Pratiques frauduleuses : l'Europe peut-elle réguler efficacement les plateformes de vente en ligne ?

FairPatterns was featured on France Culture in the program Le Journal de l’éco for a conversation on fraudulent practices used by online sales platforms and the challenges Europe faces in regulating them.
During the interview, our CEO explained how certain platforms rely on misleading techniques that influence consumer behaviour, especially in competitive environments where low prices and urgency tactics dominate.
The discussion explored the current European regulatory landscape, including recent frameworks designed to improve transparency and accountability. It also raised an important question about the effectiveness of these measures when many platforms operate outside Europe and are able to adapt quickly to new requirements.
The interview highlighted the need for clearer information, stronger oversight, and design practices that respect users rather than taking advantage of them. It offered a realistic look at the gap between existing regulation and the day to day reality of digital marketplaces, along with what still needs to be done to better protect consumers.
